WinXastir is a packaged CDROM, available from Lintronix, to
provide an easier and quicker method for installing both Cygwin
and Xastir on a Windows computer system.

Note there are no guarantees this will work.  This software
depends on a large number of libraries and operating system
dependencies.  I and many other Xastir users test and use
it daily.  However, every computer and every installation
is unique and may not run Xastir.   The WinXastir disk was
developed to simplify the downloading, installation and 
execution of programs and resources freely available on
the Internet.  There is no warrantee that it will run or perform
any specific function on any computer.   The Xastir mailing
list is the preferred source for Xastir and Cygwin installation
issues.  For questions or suggestions specific to the WinXastir
CD - please Email to winxastir@lintronix.com.

These Cygwin and Xastir programs on this CD-ROM are generally
covered by the GPL licenses.  As such, you may freely copy and
distribute the Lintronix WinXastir CD-ROM.

WinXastir System Requirements
-----------------------------

* OS: I've tested on Windows 98 and XP.  I doubt it'll run on Windows 95.
* Computer:  A 200 MHz Pentium system is useable.  Faster will be
  better.  Slower will be a challenge to your patience.
* System RAM:  I sometimes have trouble compiling Xastir on a system
  with 256 MB.  A system with less memory will probably run fine but
  expect trouble compiling when adding libraries and source updates.
* Hard disk:  Xastir itself doesn't take much.  Cygwin is several
  hundred MB.   The Cygwin and Xastir folder on my development
  system currently takes 393 MB.

Cygwin - a partial Cygwin mirror including a Xastir package

Basic Install of Cygwin and Xastir
----------------------------------

If you're already familiar with the Cygwin install tool, run
it and install Cygwin plus Xastir from a local directory:

  <CDROM>/cygwin/setup.exe

Hint: Don't forget to select the Xastir package to install Xastir and
the required dependencies when installing Cygwin.
