- D700 - in the status messages of Mic-E stations has been replaced with the ever telling =
Location files for Centralia and Aberdeen were fixed. Kims now in Centralis and the folks in Shelton are close to Hooters.
Satellite links now go to N2yo.com with the footprint enabled.
Some twitter improvements. Very soon any messages heard going to, for example, nwtwit, will be posted to twitter from RF

Coming soon - better reliability on the connection to the data servers.

Hog does N2YO Satellites

We had been linking to Heavens-above.com as the hot link for the active satellites. That gave a good view of the satellites current position but it was missing the ever important radio footprint.

Now thanks to N2YO - we have a WEB 2.0 driven Live Real Time Satellite Tracking resource that not only gives visible pass predictions but also has the option to turn on a footprint display.

2.0.49 has links on satellite names to their orbit page at the Heavens-Above site. This is a quick and easy way to get a visual view of the satellites current location.

The Active page was displaying two identical columns of packet counts. That was a simple waste of screen space -- specially for a display that doesn't really focus on watching counts like the check page. Turned off one of the columns and renamed the other to simply 'packets.'

Changed the hardcoded loading of data for positions to be read on the fly from APRS .pos position files. No big change noticeable right away but this will open up different positions for different invocations of the program.. So the three local instances, WA, PNW and 96UHF, can all separate position files.

The DB0ANF APRS website has a great tool for show which stations are heard and repeated by a digipeater. The hog will now include a link to this site for all digipeaters heard so it'll be a simple clickable link to find out just what a digi is hearing.

Here's an example of what WA7NWP is currently digipeating.

A first step has been taken towards creating an 'active' page by the hog. It will be similar to the current page except it will have only active stations such as those with current weather or moving. Visible satellite objects will also be considered active. One difference to start with is that the active page will regenerate probably with every unique active station report received.

The old packet hog with one web page has evolved to multiple pages..

Finally, a page of the current activity. The other pages refresh once an hour. This page, for current activity... refreshes regularly - currently every 5 minutes.

The idea is to load the current page and let it sit... It should give a view of activity on the net.

Next step - MicE status returns

A simple re arrangement of the subroutines had put "any position object" in front of the MIC-E decoding. Thus the station status which once worked ceased showing up on the status display. Found and fixed...

There's still a bit of MIC-E clutter in the status display and it'll be removed one of these days. There's more important bugs to fix.

We have to be careful with spyware software. Some is actually spyware itself that works against their competitors while spying on you.

Some folks such as the Security Mentor and Eric Howes, the Spyware Warrior keep a close eye on the programs out there. Here's the recommended list of known good software:
